Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor has it recently been submitted to another journal for consideration regardless of the language version of the text.
  • The text and figures comply with the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Abstract with 5-7 Keywords and 100–200 words (for submissions in the peer-reviewed section).
  • Manuscripts in Czech submitted into the peer-review section are provided with a Summary of 500–1500 words in English or in the original language, which will be translated by the journal staff.
  • Figures, tables, and their captions are submitted in separate documents; they are not incorporated into the text. References to all figures, tables or online supplementary materials in the text match the names of provided files.
  • The full postal and email addresses of authors are provided. The corresponding author is indicated.
  • The authors have read the Privacy Policy, Copyright Notice, Open Access Policy, and Review and Publishing Process of the journal.
  • When third-party material is used, the authors have obtained the necessary permission from the copyright owner.

Research Article

  • paper presenting new research, case study, or advance in the archaeology of Central Europe
  • 12 000 words (including only the main text and references) and 20 figures and tables
  • the structure should generally correspond to the following layout: Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion; in justified cases, an alternative text layout is also possible
  • 5–7 keywords, abstract 100–200 words long, summary of 500–1500 words for manuscripts in Czech and Slovak

Topical Review

  • paper summarising a specific topic of Central European archaeology or in connection with this area; the paper should offer a comprehensive overview of previous literature as well as new conclusions on the topic
  • 12 000 words (main text and references) and 15 figures and tables
  • 5–7 keywords, abstract 100–200 words long, summary of 500–1500 words for manuscripts in Czech and Slovak

Discussion

  • paper addressing current topical issues in the archaeological community, debates with other authors or concerning new methodological approaches
  • 8 000 words (main text and references) and 5 figures and tables
  • 5–7 keywords, abstract 100–200 words long, summary of 500–1500 words for manuscripts in Czech and Slovak
  • negative expressive words, invectives, and arguments ad hominem should be avoided in debates with other scholars; in such cases, Archeologické rozhledy reserves the right to edit or even reject the manuscript

News

  • brief papers presenting conference reports, obituaries, or statements
  • 2 000 words
  • the journal does not accept birthday notices for esteemed scholars

Book Review

  • paper reviewing newly published archaeological literature with relation or relevance to the Central European territory; the review should place the book in the context of current discourse and present the reviewer’s opinion of the book; short annotations are not accepted
  • 4 000 words
  • negative expressive words, invectives, and arguments ad hominem should be avoided; in such cases, Archeologické rozhledy reserves the right to edit or even reject the manuscript
